Woohoo!

I still have a long way to go until goal weight, but I've lost 30.6 lbs! A little over a pound a week! Yay! Having the stomach flu last week helped me loose 3 lbs this week...I guess there is always a silver lining!

Not exactly the baby this is for...

When Gram and Bapa gave Kayleigh this stroller for Christmas, I don't exactly think this was the baby they intended to be riding in it! The two of them had fun strolling around the house, and Daddy was watching them every step of the way.

Doggie door

Kayleigh is trying to figure out the doggy door. She watches Logan go in and out of it, and is trying so hard to figure it out. She'll put her head out once Logan and the dogs are outside and watch them. Funny, that's what Bug does in the summer when I'm mowing - head out the door, body inside the aircon.

But sometimes, she doesn't get her hand out fast enough, and her little fingers get caught in the bottom of the door. "A little help, please?"

And then, she also likes reaching for Daddy, because he's the coolest guy around. Maybe if she reaches hard enough, her arm will grow so she can touch him! Or maybe they'll meet halfway crawling and she'll crawl under him...

As you can see through these pictures, it's starting to feel more like Houston winter: 70's in the day and 50's at night. It's nice to be get outside again and to have the windows open!

Doggy bed

We just got a new doggy bed for Zoe. Bug loves it - Zoe, not so much.

It also makes a great reading place. Logan already has good taste in books, "The Princess Bride".

The sick ward

Apparently, Kayleigh was our little canary. Her getting sick was just the tip of the iceberg and we should have gotten out while we could (or scrubbed the whole house with Lysol!).

Early Monday morning I took K-bob to the hospital. Tuesday afternoon, Logan got sick all over his bed (haha, I was at WW, so Daddy's turn!). He spent the rest of the day a pallet on the trampoline (or near it). Tuesday night, I got sick. Seriously, I didn't even have morning sickness with my kids, so this was not a pleasant experience. Wednesday afternoon, Daddy got sick.

Logan was so sweet when Daddy got sick though. He came into the "toilet closet" and rubbed Shane's back and said, "Spit it out, Daddy. Spit it out." It was the same thing his Daddy did for him when he was sick the day before.

The other day, Logan wanted to get into the freezer. When we opened up the freezer, he got out an ice pack out of the door and put it on his tummy. "Tummy hurts." Ice fixes bumps, so it must fix tummies!

Needless to say, we have "watched Dog" (watched "UP") several times in the last few days, and have been subsisting on Sprite, Jell-O, and Pedialyte. Yesterday morning, I gave Logan Sprite and green Jell-O for breakfast. Most kids would love that, but he cried and cried because he wanted milk!

I have a great respect for sick moms though - wow, I just couldn't pull it together on Wednesday. I was so achy, I laid on the playroom couch and catnapped while the kids played. Good thing Kayleigh still takes morning naps!

We're headed out of this. I know because:
(1) I did like SIX loads of laundry today (with a little help from my friends)

and (2) neither kid has had an episode since early this morning.

Crawlings, then standing

A few days after learning to crawl, Kayleigh started pulling up. She loves our trampoline.

She loves to crawl - especially after balls (ba!) and Bug (Bu!) and rubber ducky (duck!).

She is very proud of herself and her accomplishments, and has become a big ham for the camera.

I was trying to get a good picture of Kayleigh standing up in her cute poodle overalls (thanks Aunt Amy - the built in toy is awesome!), but Logan wanted his picture taken. Thus, the cheesy smile picture.

Back from the ER

After a night of Kayleigh retching and emptying the contents of her tummy, I called our doctor's nurse hotline. The vomiting didn't bother me so much as the fact that it was brown and K-bob didn't want any milk (imagine, someone in the Callicott family not eating!). The nurse on the line told us to pack up and head to the ER.

As I changed Kayleigh to go to the ER, she threw up over my shoulder on to the door. Needless, to say, I was concerned. We walked right into triage - no waiting. Amazing. We saw a doctor who ordered an esophageal and stomach x-ray (try holding a 10 month old still to get a picture, HA!), anti-nausea meds (cherry flavored!), and urinalysis (two nurses and me holding the baby down to stick a tube up her urethra). Everything came back clear, praise the Lord! Our final test was the PO test - see if she could keep down ~2 oz of Pedialyte for 20 minutes. Passed!

Daddy's comment when we came home - "Next time, give me the $100 and go over to Hope and Phil's and sleep". That's his, "I told you so". Pretty nice for a man running on 8 hours of sleep in the past 2 days!

His next comment, "Did they at least think she was cute?" "Yes, all 15-plus people we saw thought she was beautiful and loved her hair." I guess getting to show off a beautiful child makes the hospital run worth it? *heehee*

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We celebrated by getting books - "Mater and the Ghost Light" for Logan, and "Hop on Pop" for Daddy. We've already read Logan's book 3 times this morning.

We also made yummy pink pancakes. Both kids really enjoyed them. I tried to make a few of them look like hearts, but that just wasn't happening this morning! Logan also had pink milk to go with his pink pancakes. This was actual strawberry pink milk, not Rosie Callicott pink milk (red food dye in white milk).

And after church, Logan and Daddy brought home some Spiderman chocolates for me and some beautiful flowers. Beautiful!

The whale

We have a new addition to our family, the "whale" teeter-toter. Okay, sometimes Logan calls it the whale, other times it's the dolphin. Either way, it's some large aquatic mammal.

Logan, Daddy, and Kayleigh had fun playing on the whale. Daddy made some very nice new handles for the whale. Handles make it easier to hold on to, obviously.

Daddy and Logan had fun teeter-totering together. Daddy singsonged, "Teeter, toter, teeter, toter. Y'all fall down!" and both of them fell off the whale. Logan laughed and laughed and said, "Daddy fall down! Daddy fall down!"

After all that whale riding, it was time for a dogpile on Daddy. Because we love him!

Just hangin' out

Logan has a great imagination. The other day, while Kayleigh was sleeping, he played for a long time with his Duplos. For some reason, he calls the window and door units "house". So when he put them on cars he was "driving house". Hilarious! So he "drive house" all over our house. In fact, I got kicked out of my computer chair so he could drive the house on the table!

Logan also got some stickers in the mail from Gram and Bapa for Valentine's Day. He had a fun time coloring and putting stickers on paper. The stickers weren't very sticky, so we had some "uh oh, sticker fall down". But after playing with the construction stickers, he can say "backhoe" really well!

Nuki-less

On Tuesday (Feb 9) Logan took a nap with his Nuki in his mouth. He wasn't really into the whole nap thing, so he got up and played - with his Nuki in his mouth - a big No-No. So after being warned by Daddy once, he was caught out of his bed with it in his mouth again. Daddy took him to the trashcan and they threw the Nuki away (which Daddy later fished out - just in case).

Since then, he's been completely Nuki-less.

Falling asleep has taken a little more time, but he still is pretty easy to put down. He now wants you to lay almost on his bed with him (we took off the front rail this past weekend as well) and rub his head. Then he's good.

He still asks for his "Neenee" when he gets in bed, but we tell him that he threw them away. And he's okay with that. Guess he's getting to be a big boy!

Avocado face

Kayleigh ate avocado for the first time tonight. She seemed to be okay with it, just ended up with a lot of it on her face and clothes and in her hair. It was cute though! So after dinner, she got her second bath of the day.

Visiting the Big Flachs

Since the Colts were in the Super Bowl (they lost! Sad clown!), we decided to spend the weekend with some fellow Colts fans. So we went up to Dallas to hang out with Shane's brother Mikell and his family.

Logan enjoyed playing with Jayden, Efan, and Nafan. He took a shower with Jayden, but after a few minutes was in tears, so then he hopped in the bath with Ethan and Nathan. They had fun, though there were a few tussles between them on who was using what bath toy.

Jayden is a great big cousin. He let Logan play with his little pop up game (that he had purchased with his own money, so it was a big deal!). He's going to be great with his new brother or sister. That'll be good, since the new baby will be sleeping in his room (his choice...seriously).

Kayleigh loved hanging out with Aunt Jenn. Jenn is looking super pregnant, and she still has one more trimester! Oui vey!

Daddy and Uncle Mike hang out. This is what daddies do when they have time to themselves - they play on the computer. Mikell and Shane stayed up to the wee hours of the morning playing Call of Duty 2. They hooked up Shane's PS3 and had a good time.

We had a great time hanging out with everyone. It was unfortunate that both kids have decided they like to sleep in their own beds. Kayleigh woke up every few hours at night, and Logan slept with us in our pull out couch bed Sunday night. Needless to say, this made for two very tired parents on the drive home Monday afternoon.

Rain, rain, go away

For the past week it has been raining. Which is fine when it's for one day, but it seems like it's been going for weeks on end! The dogs are stir crazy and are tracking in mud all over the house. What is the point of mopping when there will be muddy doggy footprints all the way into the kitchen!?! Thank goodness we have tile though - can't imagine dogs on carpet with this rain.

Logan wants to go "Down slide", but even in the breaks in the rain, it was a swamp in the back. Finally the rain stopped - thought I would take a picture to commemorate the night!

Brotherly love

On Friday night, Logan crawled up on the couch, and said "Mama, Kayleigh down!" Usually, that means Kayleigh gets set on the ground, but then he said, "Kayleigh sit." He wanted to hold his little sister! They hugged on each other for like 2 minutes, but how sweet are these kids?!

Faux-hawk

After Logan took a bath the other day, we used the hair dryer on him (don't ask me why, but he loves it). I blew his hair backwards and it stayed, so with a little help from some gel, we spiked his hair into a little faux hawk. Cute! Of course, by the end of the day, it had fallen. But it was fun to play with it!

She Crawls!

The day Daddy has been waiting for has come! Last week, January 28, Kayleigh learned to crawl! In the week since, she has been going great lengths. She crawls from the living room, through the dining room, through the kitchen, and to the play room. She loves her new found independence, and now believes that she should control everything (like when she gets in and out of her high chair, when and how she gets fed, when she gets to nap - basically her whole life. She is SO not her mother's child! haha). She also pulls up on the mini-trampoline we have, the coffee table, the dogs, etc.

Kayleigh will often get herself stuck under things - like Mama's chair. We haven't quite figured out backing up yet.

When she gets upset about where she wants to go, she'll stop, sit up, and suck her thumb. Thumbs are good decision makers and soothers!

I can't believe my little baby is getting so big so fast! I'm glad that she's still a cuddle bunny and loves to snuggle, but she is slowly becoming Miss Independent. I guess I should say, "You go girl!" *Sigh*
