I'm not sure if school wore him out today or playing in the street with the neighborhood kids, but Logan fell asleep in his doorway. I think he was trying to get to our bed (from his bed), but he didn't quite make it before falling asleep.

Sleepy boy
I'm not sure if school wore him out today or playing in the street with the neighborhood kids, but Logan fell asleep in his doorway. I think he was trying to get to our bed (from his bed), but he didn't quite make it before falling asleep.
Thanksgiving artwork
The kids made their own placemats for the Family Breakfast. This is Logan's:
I love the little fingers and the "I thank God, 2 Timothy 1:3" on the placemat. In the class picture, the kids are holding up letters to spell out "Give Thanks".
This is Kayleigh's hand print - a turkey! I'm impressed that the colors didn't run all over the place.
This is another thing I'm so thankful for. Logan is very interested in pointing out all the letters and numbers he sees. But he's also trying to write his name. This is his name on his paper - he did it all by himself. I was very impressed! He did miss the "a", but wow, he's getting there!
Funny thing, though. Logan has been pointing out all the letters in words, but Kayleigh, my little narcissist, only sees the "K"s. She says, "Mommy! K for me!" Because all "K"s belong to Kayleigh!

First Years Family Breakfast
Today, November 17, First Years had a Family Breakfast. We brought muffins to both classes, but of course, both kids ate a few muffins before we got to the breakfast at 9am.
Kayleigh enjoys a donut hole. Yummy! She also desecrated her kolache and ate the "hot dog" out of the middle.
Ms Angie and Kayleigh look at pictures on Ms Angie's phone. Kayleigh was listing everyone in the pictures, "Baby Swoane!" "Kate!" "Mommy...and ME!"
Logan's class did a few songs for us (with Ms Jennifer accompanying them on the guitar). They sang, "I'm in the Lord's Army" and "This Little Light of Mine". Logan, my little introvert, did not want to sing on the first song, but he did go up for "This Little Light of Mine". He didn't sing much, but on the way home, he sang the song all the way through - twice!

Daddy and Logan eat a little breakfast. Sweet Daddy, who didn't sleep much the day before, stayed up late (for him) to be there for both kids. What an awesome guy! There were surprisingly a lot of daddys at the preschool, but we were very happy our Daddy was there!
We got to see the kids artwork, and have fun with them. It was a great time!

Bapa and Gram's house - in blocks
Shane was cutting some boards the other day, and Logan wanted to cut some. So he cut two shapes, a triangle and a square. He made a house out of them, and told me that it was Bapa and Gram's house. Then he colored it - and added grass. Note: Bapa and Gram do not have grass in their yard. Good creativity, Little Man!
Rice Homecoming
November 5, the kids and I hurried up to Rice University to meet Chris, Amy, and kids for some homecoming stuff. We took the kids on what was supposed to be a Rice BINGO for little kids. Yeah, it was not kid friendly, but then, I don't know how kid friendly I would have made something in college - but I will say, I wouldn't have talked about the four faces in the Sallyport for like 5 minutes. Seriously, for a two year old - BORING!
Now, here's a fun thing to do with kids - the whispering wells at the Physics Lab. There are two of these wells on either side of the stairs leading to the Physics Lab (or whatever it's called now). You whisper into the well, and the person in the other can hear you. Here Chris helps Lottie and Adam use the whispering well.
Amy and Sebastian Good also came to homecoming. Lottie and their daughter, Eliska, play with their Rice beach balls with Willy's statue and Fondren Library in the back. Speaking of Fondren, it was SO different than when I was there. The bottom floor had almost no books, but looked more like a computer lab. There were books stacked up on the walls as art!

Rice University was very different from what I remember it. They even have an outdoor pool now! And my old dorm, Jones South, no longer has an all girls floor. Sad clown, because that was a fun time. There are like 4 more colleges from when I was in college - 10 years ago. Wow, I'm so old!
Anyway, we had a good time hanging out with everyone - such a good time, that Kayleigh fell asleep on the drive home.

"D" is for ...
Logan was wearing his "D Dinosaur" shirt the other day. He looked at Shane and said, "D is for Dinosaur and Daddy and Daddy's leg is sore!"
Halloween night
After Zoo Boo, we came home, napped then got ready to go Trick-or-Treating in the neighborhood. Before we went, we had to take a bunch of pictures, of course.
Here are the kids, the Garden Gnome and Fire Fighter with the pumpkin placemats we made at home (Kayleigh's has three eyes) and their pumpkins they decorated at school. Logan's pumpkin has a "P" on it, and Kayleigh's has an ice cream cone decorated with glitter.
The kids outside the house, ready to go. They have their little LED blinky lights on - thanks Ms Delma!
Daddy gave Logan a radio to use before we left - that way he could be like a "real" fire fighter.
The neighbors - Sadie, Logan, Kayleigh, and Ashlynn all dressed up.
Kayleigh and Logan go ring the doorbell while Daddy and I watch.
One house had a blow up haunted house in front of it. Pretty neat! This was also next to the cul-de-sac that blocked the road off with tables and was having a little block party. They even offered the kids juice boxes, which they gladly took.
Both kids made quite a haul. So, next year, maybe not so many streets!

Zoo Boo - October 31
On Halloween Monday, all four of us went to Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo. The Zoo really decks out for Halloween - pumpkins for animals and kids, lots of candy, games, even pumpkins hanging from the trees!
Logan is ready to get some candy and have fun! He had another costume this year, but decided that he wanted to be a pumpkin again for Zoo Boo.
Kayleigh was a little Garden Gnome, and she had been talking about getting candy for days, if not weeks. Apparently, the sugar made a big impression last year!
The kids get to color on the mural - a huge hit with our two. Coloring and elephants, two of Kayleigh's favorite things.

Gorilla cart - in the HOUSE
Logan decided that he needed to move the Gorilla Cart from the backyard to the front yard. And the shortest distance between to points is a straight line. So of course, the shortest way to go would be through the house, not around it.

Swimming in October
After the girls left on October 29, the kids decided to take a dip in the pool. Or if you're Logan, a huge jump and splash in the pool!
It's a little chilly in the pool, so the kids are holding their arms up in the air.
The water temperature - 64F. Yeah, Mommy and Daddy will NOT be getting in the pool.

Grouting the pavers
To make our porch look a little nicer, Shane grouted the pavers going to the backyard. It looks much nicer, and it's harder for the grass/weeds to grow through.

Daniher girls
October 29, the Daniher girls (or as Shane calls them, "the redheads") came over. All the kids had a great time. The little girls, Kayleigh and Evelyn, who are both two, helped me make chocolate chip cookies. The big girls, Naomi and Elena, along with Logan, had fun in the sandbox. Dmitri and Stavros from up the street came down, and we had seven kids at our house! But it was super fun - they entertained themselves, and all they wanted from me was food - peanut butter sandwiches, popcorn, apples, grapes. Fun times!

Zoe and Bug went to the vet in late October, and she gave them cute little doggie bandanas. Don't they look spiff?
