Just so you know, Blue Bunnies can get rid of monsters. In case, as Logan so eloquently put it, you (Mommy) leave the front door open and monsters come in our house and then if they open his door and come to his bed, the blue bunny will SCARE them off into the dark! And then they will be gone.
Gram did not know what she was doing when she threw away Uncle Doug's Blue Bunny.

The Daddy monster
Last night was so fun. Kayleigh, naked as a jaybird from being in the pool, got down from the couch, looked at Daddy and said, "come'n get me!" Then she took off running for the kitchen. She ran around the bar - squealing and giggling all the way. Logan saw how much fun they were having, so he got in on it. "Daddy, try and catch me!" "Daddy, you are a Monster! Ahhh!" There was much squealing, and giggling, and just general mayhem.
Afterward, there were two revved up kids resisting bedtime - and one tired Daddy who had to go to work.

Bike riders
Today, Logan had the great idea to ride bikes down to the gas station. We sometimes drive the little F150 there, but we've never ridden bikes that far. It's a little over a mile to go there and back. But both kids did it (I was surprised! I only carried Kayleigh's trike for about 10 ft.). I don't know if you can see the Mobil sign way off in the distance, but that's where we went.

Logan is super fast on his bike (much faster than Kayleigh on her trike). He was really good about riding about a block ahead of us and stopping and waiting. Here he waits by the "pond" behind Hope and Phil's house.

Kayleigh gets going. She was determined to keep up, and she did a pretty good job. She didn't get as many breaks as Logan did, but she was pretty much pure gristle in a dress. An impressive little chicky.

We stopped at the gas station and got some trail mix and two little drinks. After we ate a little and sat in front of the station a while, we got back up and headed home. Here the kids take another break to drink some more juice. Yum!

I was really impressed with the kids. They did a great job of riding their bikes! They keep all their pool action, running around after Daddy, and biking, they'll be giving Uncle Doug a run for his money on triathlons!

Cinderella
Sleeping beauty
I thought Kayleigh looked so sweet sleeping the other day that I took a picture. Happily for me, she didn't wake up (I would not have been happy with myself if she had). She has decided that she needs to sleep under the covers now. I walked in to check on her one night and she had crawled under the comforter herself. Such a big girl now (though Logan insists that one day she'll be a big boy).
PlayStation3
Logan and Daddy just got a new game they play together - Lego Pirate's of the Caribbean. Logan loves playing it, and for a three year old, he's pretty good. Of course, his favorite thing to do is to swim out and get eaten by a shark.

Logan loves to play EyePet. Here he is with Lightning - his pet on Daddy's PS3.

Oh, the techie babies we are raising. At least we don't have an iPad/iPod yet...

Taking Auntie Hope Four Wheeling
On Monday May 9th, we took the kids and Auntie Hope up to Crosby for some four wheeling action. When we got there, Daddy took Hope out for a spin to get her a little familiar with the area. He also brought the handheld Garmin so she didn't get lost.

Auntie Hope took Kayleigh out on the four wheeler. K likes to pull her hat low over her face - keeps dust from getting in her eyes. Got a grip on the jeans.

Bubba - no seriously, here he really looks like a "bubba". Think it's the ears...

Twins! Black shirts and khaki shorts. These two were too cute!

We had a great time taking Hope out. It was hot, but dry, so in the shade it was nice. On the way back we stopped for Taco Bell and I think we were all more thirsty than hungry. As soon as the kids finished their lunch both of them passed out for the rest of the ride home. Nice quiet ride home. *grin*

Four wheeling
We borrowed Mr. Dean's four wheeler for two weeks. Really, Daddy borrowed it so he could hitch the Gorilla Cart to it and pull all the dirt from the truck to the backyard. The kids LOVED it. We drove around the backyard (ruining our dry grass in the process).
Kayleigh only wanted to ride on the back - she'd hold on tight to the driver.

Auntie Hope came over and rode it with us. She had a great time, too!

On May 2, the boys took the four wheeler north to Crosby. Here they are before a big mud hole. This is actually the mud hole they got stuck in. They then had to get out using the winch (not wench - they didn't bring any of them along - heehee). Daddy tied it around a tree and Logan got to push the winch button to pull the four wheeler out. It was a highlight for him.

The mud/water was pretty high (for the Honda Rincon to get stuck, it'd have to be). I think Shane said it was up to the bottom of their thighs when they were sitting. Here is Shane showing off his wet pants (in a picture taken by Logan).

Proof that Mr Dean's four wheeler is a boy - here is his penis! As you can see, the mud was high enough to push through the hitch.

The boys came back in one piece! Kayleigh and I had fun too - we went shopping, had a late breakfast, read books, went to Taco Bell, and just had a good time hanging out. Great times had by all!

Happy Easter
Happy Easter! He is RISEN!

After naptime, we did Easter baskets. Logan was up first. Here he is digging in.

Logan then woke up Sissy, and she ran out to open her basket. Carrot bubbles!

Then, the Easter Bunny dropped a whole bunch of eggs in our yard. What a klutzy bunny! Logan and Helper-dog Bug, look at their eggs.

Finding eggs around the tree.

Look! Eggs!

A smiley dog. Smiling because any jellybeans that got dumped in the grass, he got to eat. Bug, thy name is Hoover.

Church Easter Party
Our church had a "Spring Festival" the Saturday before Easter. There was an Easter egg hunt - which the kids enjoyed. Not too hard to find the eggs, since it was an open field. Kayleigh didn't quite understand the concept, but had a fun time once she figured it out. Of course, it was all over once both kids figured out that there were goodies in the eggs...

Miss Allison helped both kids get Easter eggs.

Auntie Phil and Kayleigh enjoy the petting zoo. It was so great of Hope and Phil to come. Of course, Shane was laughing with Jackie Mayer about it, "Hope has Logan. Phil has Kayleigh. I supervise. The perfect division of labor."

Hope helps Logan and Kayleigh hold the bunnies.

Logan and Kayleigh loved the bounce house. They bounced and climbed the walls.

Happy birthday, Daddy!
Daddy's birthday was April 22, two days before Easter. So he got to have our Easter bunny cake as his birthday cake. This year, I made small bunnies instead of the big bunny cake. I accidentally left them down on the counter, and Bug ate about half of them. Of course, we didn't really need the cakes, so I guess it worked out...

I am so happy to be married to such a great man! He is so patient and fun. We love having him around.

Boys will be boys...
Boys can turn anything into a weapon. See that innocuous stick there? A sword. That sweet little baby doll? A boom boom gun. And those innocent mailboxes? A big gun! BOOM! Got that car down the street. Boomed Mr Kostos' SUV. These bazookas are able to pivot for better aim and are easy to reload due to the front loading flaps.
Community Bible Study
This past year, I have been in CBS (Community Bible Study) a non-denominational bible study. It has been wonderful, since there are women from every age group and my kids can recite Bible verses (inspiring!).
Here are the kids a few weeks ago, April 21st, doing their presentation. They are singing about the fuzzy balls on their hands that have spiritual significance (like the old colored bead bracelet where every color stood for something). Logan is at the end - amazingly, he's standing in this photo, since half the presentation he was sitting. Such the showman!

This is my sweet Core Group - back row; Lalla (no seriously, that's her name!), Von Deen (our Core Group Leader), Lori, Beth, Marjory, Cheryl, and Kirsten - front row; Dana, Candice, Meredith, and Lynn. I have been taught and challenged by these women. One of my favorite things came from Marjory, a cancer survivor and a former CBS director: "It is better to be loving than right." Wow, in how many relationships can I use that in? When does it become time to just shut it and, as Maria would say, put down the gloves?

I'm sort of sad that next year I'll have a different Core Group - it'll be hard to top this one!

Our backyard facelift
Shane has been working really hard on the backyard - putting up the pool, expanding the garden (rose garden and veggie garden), and planting trees.
Here is the finished product:

The beautiful rose garden.

The pool with the knockout roses and new Mexican palm.

The kids play in new sandbox. Shane put a full yard of sand in the sand box. There should be enough to play in for a LONG time! Of course, there is some jumping from the sandbox to the pool.
