Note to self - ALWAYS check the laundry. Stashed inside the laundry there might be:
(1) Used Pull-Ups, because they're the same thing as underwear, right? Also note, these leave a white gel over all clothes. Apparently, they will only absorb so much before they explode.
(2) Little turds that were not cleaned out when someone went to the bathroom. Just because most of them landed on the floor when he took off his underwear does not mean that there aren't any left in the crumpled up pile on the floor. This will cause stinky clothes and sweet husband will have to shake out all the wet clothes looking for more turds.
These two important notes are being added to: checking pockets for chapstick, money, screws, ink pens, ear plugs, hot wheels, pieces of fruit...

A Good Day
Even if everything had gone wrong yesterday, I had a good day...

Neighborhood kids
Wow, it's hard to believe that my little guy is old enough to start riding with the kids on the street! There are two little boys in the middle of our street who are four and seven. Dmitri, the four year old, is here with Logan. Stavro, the older, was also on a scooter, but he was moving too fast to get a picture!
Logan loves to follow them around, chase them on his bike, or try to "kill" them with his dragon slaying sword (aka, a stick). The other night, Levi Sterner (almost 3) joined in the fun, and all four boys ran up and down the street for over an hour! It's nice to have friends on the street to play with. And Kayleigh tried to keep up with the boys, but her little legs just don't keep up. Eventually...

The duet
I don't know how Shane does it, but he sleeps through the kids "singing" at the top of their lungs. Which is good, because they do it so joyfully and with such gusto, that it's hard to tell them to keep it down. Plus, it's one of the things they can do together without fighting. Score!
Train set update
This was the final product! AMAZING! The kids and Dadden stayed in Logan's room and played trains for over an hour while I fixed dinner (what a treat!). Shane said Kayleigh sat on the bench and let him know when a "tain stuck" or "tain stop". Logan was the designated mechanic, but sometimes his fixing and putting back on the track skills are not so good. But they all had a great time!
It's a good thing that Logan is sleeping through the night. I don't think I could have gotten to him in the middle of the night!

Chillin'
The kids were so with the chillin' thing, they both had to have blankets. K-bobby usually gets them out for us and passes them around, but this time she let me cover her up. "Word World" is so much better when you've got a blanket and a buddy.

Using the potty
Today, Kayleigh used the potty! YAY!
She had just gotten out of the bathtub, and looked at me with a "oh my goodness" face, and said "Teetee!" I put her on the baby toilet, and she tee-teed!

Kayleigh pulled this starfish sticker off the wall and put it in her hair. Maybe this is how Kate Middleton started her love of hats - in the toddler years.

Amazing trains
This is Daddy and Logan's latest creation! There are FOUR levels at one point - almost looks like a parking garage. They had SIX trains going at once...it was craziness! Really neat to watch!
Gram and Bapa visit
Gram and Bapa headed down to our house January 9th and stayed until the morning of January 10th. Of course, the kids thought their visit was way to short (as they do whenever any grandparent visits us). Kayleigh walked around the house on Wednesday calling for Gram, Bapa, and Sam. Then she'd look at me and ask, "Where doe?" (where'd they go?)
On Tuesday, we went to Toddler Time at the League City library. We took up a bunch of the tickets, since there were five of us! Bapa must have had fun, since he was the only male over the age of 3 in attendance. Logan had a great time playing with the cars after storytime. He and Gram made a really long train with them!
Kayleigh is the maraca/shaker queen! She ran around the room during playtime with multiple shakers in hand.
She even shared them with Bapa. Here he plays along with his shaker.
Kayleigh was a little tired by the end of story time. All that shaking wears a girl out!
Later, after naps, Logan entertained everyone by playing his guitar. They sang "Old MacDonald" many times over. Kayleigh is getting good at singing the "E-I-E-I-O" part, and Logan can pretty much sing the song all the way through. (BTW, did you know that Old MacDonald had a dinosaur on his farm? It was a rather primitive farm...)

We had a great time visiting with Gram and Bapa. Monday, they took the kids out for a couple of hours so Shane and I could clean out the garage. We can now actually walk out into the garage! Woohoo! Thanks, Gram and Bapa - we had a great time!

Logan's first hockey game
Sunday, January 9th, Logan, Daddy, William, and Mommy all went an Aeros Hockey game. Fun times, though we didn't see any fights (bummer). This was Logan's first professional game to go to (you'd like we would have taken him to a baseball game by now...).
We got some snacks for the game (almost cost us as much as the tickets for the food!), and Logan enjoyed his pretzel and my popcorn. In fact, for most of the first period, he sat like this - leaning up against Mommy, hand on her leg, and hand in the popcorn.
I forget what Logan was cheering for, but he was slightly late on his loud and enthusiastic "YAY!"s. Please notice, this was the one time William was actually texting, but funny that I caught him being a teen techie!

Logan's doctors visits
Logan's had a busy time going to see doctors this January. On January 3, he had his first dentist appointment. Daddy went with him and reported that he did great! He sat still enough for the dental hygienist to actually floss and polish his teeth.

Here he is with Dr. Chaconas. Notice, they supplied him with sunglasses, but he didn't want to wear them for some reason. Ever since going to the dentist, he's been great about brushing his teeth and not swallowing his toothpaste. So it was a lot less traumatic than I thought it would be for him. Yay!
The next day, Logan and Daddy went to see Dr. Quillin for Logan's annual check up. It was supposed to be in December, but apparently there was a lot of flu going around, so they asked that the healthy kids stay home. Logan found the diaper bag camera, and snapped this picture of Dr. Quillin. A little fuzzy, but not too bad when you're 3.
Logan is not a huge kid, but it's all good. He's 38 inches tall (63%) and weighs 33 lbs 6 oz (67%). Of course, he still thinks he's a baby an needs to be carried and picked up all the time.
He is a good helper - can make mac and cheese pretty much by himself (if everything is measured out for him). He can mainly get dressed on his own, but he often doesn't want to try because he's in a hurry and doesn't want to take the time. He is affectionate, saying "I love you" before you tell him. His favorite way to get off the phone (when he's done talking to you, whether you're done or not) is: "Okay, bye-bye. I'll see you later. I love you!" And then he hangs up.
I have to say, over the past few days, he's been great about going potty. He's only had a few accidents, but he's super cute afterward. "I sorry Mommy. I tee-teed in my underwear. Just a little bit. I sorry." So we change them and life goes on. Tonight, as he and I were playing trains, Kayleigh was getting a bath, and he said, "I sorry Mommy, I can't play right now. I have to go take a bath with Kayleigh. I sorry." And he ran out of the room.

New Years Day
Somewhere, it was cold on New Years Day. In the Houston area, it was sunny and beautiful: a perfect day to go out and play on the swing set. In the morning, we watched a little of the Rose Bowl Parade, and after naps, we played outside. Kayleigh can actually go out herself and slide down.
Logan tormented his sister by getting "stuck" on the slide. "Go down, Logan." "I can't Mommy!"
A new year, a new swing. Kayleigh got the guts to try out the big kid swing. Of course, she fell off, cried, tried again, fell off, cried, and got into the baby swing. It's a work in progress.
Logan was having a great time. As you can see, it was a rather lazy day - he didn't even take off his Lightning McQueen pajama shirt!
Kayleigh gets ready to go down the slide. She can climb up the ladder and slide down, all by herself - no catcher needed on the ladder. And with these cotton pants on, she was zooming down the slide. So fast, she stopped at the bottom with her legs, and went over on to her nose!

Funny Sayings
Logan and Kayleigh are some verbal kids - if you don't believe me, spend some time in the car with them!
Kayleigh will tell you that she has a "stinky daaper" and that she wants to go "o'side n' wing". She also likes to come up to Dadden and ask to go "round and round" (while she says this she raises and lowers her arms in front of her). She likes to eat "gumbaa" (gumballs), "popporn" (popcorn, having nothing to do with brown chicken, brown cow), and "go-feess" (goldfish). But her favorites are "rang" (oranges), the small mikans. She can peel one by herself (and generally insists on doing so).
Logan is funny. He's learning the parts of speech by listening, and sometimes that doesn't work so well. The other day he "runned" somewhere. But, most verbs, you do put an "ed" on the end. And when he closes the door of the car, he closes it "hardly". Because you put and "ly" on the end of adverbs. He reminds me of the people in my ESL classes. Also, he runs out of words - his mind seems to want to say something, but his vocab just can't keep up! So he sits there and "ums" and stammers because he can't think of what he wants to say. And he describes things so well. Today, Zoe's large canine tooth was a horn. They are long...
