Shenandoah National Park - October 16

On October 16, we went to Shenandoah National Park to see all the beautiful leaves.  It was a patchwork of color...and a gorgeous sunny day to go.
The four kids enjoy the picturesque scenery.
The Flachman clan...aren't we cute?
We went on a hike, down to a few waterfalls (well, trickles).  It was really quiet, you could hear the wind through the trees.  It was so peaceful.  Kayleigh got a little bit of a hand on the way down.
The boys are defenders of the castle.
The kids take a rest (with their walking sticks).

My boys on the waterfall.
The Flachman girls.  Not quite sure what we were fishing for...
Bapa and Gram, or as Kayleigh likes to call them, Mommy's mommy and daddy.  At least she's making familial connections!
The boys at the base of the waterfall!  Hi guys!
On the way back up, Kayleigh and Daddy walked together.
Well, Kayleigh walking was not really true - she ended up getting carried by Daddy.  In fact, Shane put on one of Kayleigh's favorite songs, the Taylor Swift song "we are never getting back together", and she sang along with most of the song.  At the end, he asked her if she wanted to hear it again, and she just grunted.  Yup, taking a nap!
Logan hiked back up with Bapa and Gram.  They got a taste of what Shane calls, "Jabber-jaws".  Logan talked and talked and talked.  In fact, Gram had to ask him to be quiet at one point.  Heehee!  I ended up walking with him, and we talked the rest of the way up.  How we had breath, I don't know!
It was a beautiful hike, though we were all ready for a taste of the Mellow Mushroom's pizza afterwards.  And even though we tried to wear them out, neither kid took a nap on the way back into Charlottesville.
